The past two days were incredible!! It is what we live for in the ski world!! POW DAYS!!! The new year came in strong with a storm that has supplied us with two POW days in a row!!! Of course, sometimes things go wrong when it is so perfect…. My snowmobile’s clutch came off. Such a shitty feeling!! I thought it was just a belt and pulled my cover off the sled to find the primary off my clutch had totally poped off. Total bummer…. We towed it back down to the bus and made moves back to Durango to get it into the Fun Center right away. Fucking sleds man!!! I buy a brand new sled not to deal with this shit… On the bright side, it is all under warranty. Not going to let this bring me down!!! Life has been so good!! Done with work, POW DAY, followed by another POW DAY, and chillin with friends! Guess I will be hiking for a little while…. All good! Still get to snowboard!!!!!! Besides that, the day was perfect!! That did not happen till like 230PM or so. We shredded all day!!! Mad laps in the trees with Marshell and Alex! We filmed a bunch as well! Awesome day ripping POW in the trees with best friends!!!!! 2017/2018 season edit! Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5uUNYBD1Glc&t=51s
Snow Report
No new snow overnight. High South winds overnight. The day before everything was a perfect blank white canvas and when we rode up in the morning mad wind ripples on South faces. Leeward slopes clearly loaded. It was like that creamy, firm snow, that was not breakable crust. Skied nicely. The North trees held POW with super deep loaded spots. During the morning the wind was chill, but got stronger up high from the North-Northwest as the day went on. Storm slab on all aspects. Likely a wind slab on North faces. Persistent slab NW-N-E-SE. Saw some friends ski from above tree line on a South face and the snow looked to hold very nicely. Huge natural North facing slide near Corkscrew Pass. Also someone I know set off a big one on a SE face on Molas Pass. Be safe out there friends!!!
I just started putting snow reports at the bottom of the days post. I am no snow expert. We are just out here getting after it everyday and I would love to share my observations to the beautiful ski community!! Be safe! Take faceshots!!!!!
