Blue in Colorado!

The storm cleared and it is bluebird in Colorado!! Marshell and I hiked into Prospect Gulch today. It was a very hot skin! The sun was baaaaaking us and the POW! We skinned into the basin and skied a very short South facing shot. We were on a time crunch to meet up with Karl and Julien in town. The snow was very sticky!! Crazy how fast the sun wrecks the POW! I would stick to North facing trees for POW! Still was great to be out there hiking in the sun! While we were up there we skinned around the old Prospects homes and buildings. Prospect Gulch gets its name because it was the location where the Prospectors first came to this area. There are lots of old houses, buildings, and mining equipment up there! We skied that South shot to the old road, skied out on that road, and took an East facing shot down to the car!! That East stuff was also sticky. Beautiful day in the mountains!! Colorado is amazing!

Snow Report

Prospect Gulch. No new snow since yesterday afternoon. Bluebird day. I would say it was about 40F. Plus being at 11,400ft the sun is hot! Not much wind today, very calm. South and East facing snow was sticky. Imagine that will be crusty tomorrow. Point release slides on East faces this morning from sun. Natural storm and wind slab avalanches on North faces above tree line. The East face of Prospect Gulch was wind wrecked, with a big cornice, and super loaded.

I just started putting snow reports at the bottom of the days post. I am no snow expert. We are just out here getting after it everyday and I would love to share my observations to the beautiful ski community!! Be safe! Take faceshots!!!!!
