Slaying the Great White Pow Cow in Utah! Monte, Marshell, and I skied Brighton Resort today! We were on our way to Utah from Copper Mountain and I-80 closed right in our face for winter weather. We sat there from 4PM-Midnight and jumped back on the road. We were about to go to sleep in a WalMart parking lot, I checked the WYDOT website just to make sure, and it had just reopened up one minute ago!! So we got stoked and jumped on the road. I drove through the night! Made it to Salt Lake City at 6AM. Met up with Monte at 7AM!! Monte is ski patrol there so he hooked it up with lift tickets! Thanks koosh! We had so much fun!! Fresh POW all day! We started off a little slow, traversing, and hunting for the deeeep. Then we started hiking and that is when we slayed! Over 60in 0f POW in the untouched spots! The side country of Brighton is top notch!! You could really get into some good good! Especially when things settle!!!!!! Super fun pow day at the resort! Sending cliffs!! Tons of faceshots!!!!!! And that steep and deep!!!! Love that resort hike to terrain!! Was good to do the resort pow day!! Be in line for the chair at 9AM to get the untouched!!
Snow Report
Brighton Resort. About 25cm new snow. Northwest facing slopes were touchy. Monte triggered three small slides. All NW facing. About 18-25cm crowns, 10ft wide, slid for 15-20ft. Small storm slab avalanches with nowhere to run. Two of them in between rocks and one in steep trees. Cold day. Close to 0F. Not too windy. Started off lightly snowing and cloudy, then went blue and showed the results of the storm! Great day to be at a resort!
I just started putting snow reports at the bottom of the days post. I am no snow expert. We are just out here getting after it everyday and I would love to share my observations to the beautiful ski community!! Be safe! Take faceshots!!!!!
