Jorge San Juanson!!!! My buddy George is in town!! George Johnson! Jorge San Juanson!! George, Marshell, Syd, Hassell, and I went up to Red Mountain Pass for an incredible ski tour!! We hiked into US Basin fron the top of the pass. From there wqe assessed the basin and decided we would drop in off the summit of the basin, “Koosh Peak”, at 12,596ft into the North-NE face. That was a really cool little shot off the summit into a wide open face of POW! A littlw wind effected up top, but overall great snow!! We hiked back up and dropped the other side down the West high alpine low angled snow into the “Cemetery” ski line below treeline!! That was POWWWWWW!!! We shredded that down to the bottom of the pass where we left a car for shuttle! From starting at the top of the pass and having a car at the bottom for shuttle we hiked 1,900ft and skied 2,800ft!!! Nailed it!!! BEAUTIFUL BLUEBIRD POW DAY IN THE BACKCOUNTRY!!

Snow Report

No new snow. Sunny about -1C. Strong winds in morning turned to calm. Southeast faces had natural wind slab avalanches. Small wet releases slides later in day as warming. North facing on ridges was wind scoured, but soft enough to edge. Once through that it was POW! West was scoured and sustrugi up high and sunny hot pow below treeline. Wind slabs up high on North face. All other snow skied stable.

I am no snow expert. We are just out here getting after it everyday and I would love to share my observations to the beautiful ski community!! Be safe! Take faceshots!! Colorado Avalanche Information Center is a great resource: https://avalanche.state.co.us/
