Solo backcountry mission in Utah! Marshell and I headed to Powder Mountain from Denver after Outdoor Retailer to decompress and ski with Steve and Danny! Got in pretty late the night before and today I skied in the backcountry alone. Had to get my fix!! Got some local knowledge and went up Cutler Ridge in Logan. I parked just outside of Camp Utaba at the cross-country ski and fat bike trailhead. Skinned for about thirty minutes on the groomed trail, then dipped left on the heavily traveled skin track, and started working my way up Cutler Ridge. Took that almost to the high ridge looking up at Ben Lomond Peak! The terrain higher from here looked incredible, but I did not feel comfortable going any further alone!! From there I transition and skied the ridge!! I held the ridge for as long as I could and put myself on top of a small South facing bowl! I ran into some locals at the bottom and they pointed out a possible line to me “if I could make sense of it from the top”. I did!!! Thanks dudes!!! Great mellow ridge skiing linked into a bowl!! GREAT TO BE OUT OF THE CITY AND ON THE SKIN TRACK!
