Surprise visit from Chronic friends!! Jason and Dylan showed up at the bus at like 10PM last night unannounced!! Was not expecting them at all!! So cool!!! Love that!! The friends know when we are living off the grid, where to find us, and to show up anytime!! Jason is the owner of Chronic, the company I snowboard for, and Dylan is another athlete. J drove out from Minnesota, scooped up Dylan, and the two of them boogied down to Silverton to surprise us and shred fat POW! Molly also stayed overnight in the bus!! The four of us took the sleds up Hurricane Pass and lapped that same South face from two days ago! It was pretty flat light all day with the storm rolling in so it was hard to see any angles in the snow when skiing!! J and Dylan took a lap first just to at least ski even though it was flat. While we were sitting at the bottom after their lap, the sunny started to break through the clouds, and you could see the face we were trying to ski!! Fire up the heli!!!! HA! We rallied from there!!! All of us got in some really good laps!! Molly got her first little mini couloir shot!!! We shredded hard till the clouds covered the sun again, ate some lunch, chilled in the mountains, and then headed back to the bus! For low expectations on the day, the sun came through and gave us a hella good time!!! WINDOW SHOPPING!!!
Snow Report
No new snow. Mostly cloudy about 5C. Calm wind. East facing slopes sun crusted. South facing was sun affected in spots too, but had orange peel textured snow you could find that was soft wind pow skiing. No new avalanches observed.
I am no snow expert. We are just out here getting after it everyday and I would love to share my observations to the beautiful ski community!! Be safe! Take faceshots!! Colorado Avalanche Information Center is a great resource: https://avalanche.state.co.us/
