IMG_2977December 29, 2018

Neckers goin neck!! Guess it is safe to say I am a sledneck…. Ahaha not switching over to the darkside! Just got off work, exhausted, making this post real quick with WiFi. Crazy good snowmobile day! Julien, Karl, and I went up to Mennehaha Basin. Cold morning! So much fresh POW! Basin was unstouched!! We bwaaapped around for about an hour! So many faceshots! Shit is cool man! You climb up super high then turn around and basically ski down on your snowmobile!!!! Making S’s, getting pitted, and taking faceshots!!! Super sick!!!! Took one snowboard lap. Those guys were in it to sled today. Karl and I went. Fresh POW in the North facing trees!!!! Karl crushed it!! Going back tomorrow to destroy those trees!!!!!!! We went over to the basin over to the south or maybe still Mennehaha separated by that sub ridge. That was deeeeep too!!! Really cool day!! Popped a crazy fun wheelie too!!!! Climbed my biggest climb as well!!! Raged way into that other basin!!! Huge mountains staring me down!!!! Also climbed up the last pitch to the top of the drop in zone first try no problem!!! My new sled is a beast!!!!!!!!!!!!!! POWWWWWWWWWW

Snow Report

At least 45cm of new snow!! Much more in spots and a little less in other spots!!! -19F in Silverton at 8:55am. Northwest wind all day ripping up high. Got stronger as the day went on. North facing is upside down. Storm slab sitting on top of the terrible facet layer to ground. South and west faces felt pretty good on the sleds. Low angle south faces were showing some cracking, but I think that had a lot to do with heavy snowmobiles pushing snow on the low angles. No signs of cracking on steep South faces. Huge avalanches on North and Northeast slopes. Some monster slides over in the Silverton Mountain heli terrain. A whole North facing ripped. The whole basin! Looks like it broke at rock. Huge Northwest slide that broke in an obvious wind loaded area. Had to be a 10ft crown. The North facing trees skied great. Seems like stuff below tree line is still holding well.

I am going to start putting snow reports at the bottom of the days post. I am no snow expert. We are just out here getting after it everyday and I would love to share my observations to the beautiful ski community!! Be safe! Take faceshots!!!!!IMG_2974
